Biography

Dr Chris Edlin has been Chief Scientific Officer at iThemba Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd since May 2009. Prior to this he was a Group Leader with the UK Medical Research Council Technology working in the anti-malarial, TB and Parkinson’s disease therapeutic areas.

He started his career with Rhone-Poulenc-Rorer in 1998 and moved to Roche Discovery based in Welwyn, UK in 2000. He was a Principal Scientist at GSK from 2002 to 2005 before joining the Medical Research Council Technology (MRCT). He holds a First Class Honours BSc Degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Organic Chemistry, both awarded by the University of Durham, and is the author of 19 patents and 14 scientific journal papers.
